If you were asked to submit paperwork to the Air Resource Board and were asked to send pictures of your coach, please read on. Most people are under the impression that this paperwork exempted them from the CLEAN TRUCK CHECK testing, it does not. You may have gotten a notice that said accepted. To make it simple this paperwork was to ensure that your Motorhome is inhabitable. Basically, that it is not used commercially such as a business office or mobile clinic type of thing. Depending on the model year this could possibly make your motorhome not registerable. Furthermore, if CTC-VIS registration and fees have not been paid you will not get tags even if registration is paid and a CLEAN TRUCK TEST has been done. The CTC-VIS fees can take 3 days to post if paid with a card and up to 7 days if paid with a Echeck. If your vehicle had an Opacity test the paperwork is sent in manually with forms and results take three days up to two weeks to get sent back. You will then have too physically go into an office to get your tags, they will not be sent in the mail. I hope this helped answer some questions for people. This may be the case in some situations. This isn't the situation all the time. If you have a 4500 or 5500 series truck and it is 2009 or older you can no longer use it for business unless it has a 1000-mile emption on it. Testing will still apply. You may use it for personal use. You can put in your private name mark it NOT FOR HIRE and it will need to be tested with an opacity test. You can permanently attach a camper and make it a Motorhome. Testing will apply. You have the option to repower with a 2010 or newer powerplant and have it inspected by C.A.R.B. Testing will apply. I have tested personal 4500 and 5500 trucks from 2008 down to 2001. Thanks for reading.
